I will check out the previews and provide input on what I am looking for; basically as I improvise I am trying to be more melodic using the different scales. When I listen to Derek Trucks or Warren Haynes; their slide work over non-blues music has such a sweet sound. Examples: the work Derek Trucks does on “High Cost for Low Living’ on the Allman Brothers “One Way Out’” CD and “So Far Away” from the “Joyful Noise” CD; “Anyday”; some of the runs he performs on these songs are an interest. Also; if you listen to some of the live tracks where warren Haynes is playing the slide on “Blue Sky” with Dickey Betts. My music theory is not strong; so I am not clear on when to use the Major; Myxalodian, Blues or a combination. As far as the Major scale goes; your DVD teaches this in the key of C; I am assuming you can use that in the different Keys; but you just adjust to the proper key and frets associated with that key; is this correct? One more thing; I learned some of the licks to Ka-ma- Lay; a lot of licks go from 6-8 6-4-3 4-6-3; I hear this a lot in Trucks songs; is this a different scale or a combination? I love everything he does, but I miss the dark and dirty delta sound he used to (back in '94-'95) play so much. Like when he would break off into a solo with a delta slide sound/going into amazing grace/into sleepwalk/then back into the blues jam with the band... That's the Derek I really love. "Amazing Grace" is rather easy, but I am still working on "Sleepwalk". As far as personal preference goes with newer stuff, I would LOVE to learn the solo off of "Instrumental Illness" from the live at the Beacon Dvd as well as his solo off of "Whipping Post" off the same Dvd! John, I just want to say thank you for doing these dvd's. When my dad died about a year and a half ago is when I decided to pick up a guitar again.
