Slide Guitar Tutorial: Warren Haynes

In this free slide guitar tutorial I want to show you about how Warren Haynes plays in standard tuning. Warren has always been one of my favorite guitarists, and as I was growing up, I was immediately drawn to his standard tuning slide guitar style.

He is able to get pretty close to the Duane Allman licks even though he is using standard tuning! I dove right in and started working on his licks back in 1995 or so. The album, “Back Where It All Begins” was kind of a standard tuning slide guitar primer for me. I also had a live tape I recorded off the radio of him with the Allman Brothers at a show in New Jersey I believe. I then heard him doing all the classic Allman Brothers slide guitar licks in standard tuning. This was something I had to learn.

In the slide guitar tutorial video below, I show you some licks and tricks I picked up from listening to Warren Haynes and trying to cop his slide guitar in standard tuning style.
