In this lesson I want to show you a Warren Haynes style slow blues lick in the key of G. This lick has a lot of Warren’s style in it such as pre bending and over bending. I highly recommend you check out his first album with Govt Mule and specifically the song Mother Earth. It’s got some really cool blues licks on that one. Warren is one of my all time favorite guitarists, and I’ve been copping his licks since I was 18 years old. He’s one of the main reasons I started playing slide guitar as well. Hi John.
First let me say how usefull I am finding your blues guitar lessons. I found you on Youtube the other week by accident. However, I find myself increasingly adding your lessons to my favourites. One thing I cant find though is how to maintain vibrato whilst holding a full or even half string bend. Do you have any excercises that can help build the necessary strength in hand and wrist as lack of this skill is holding me back from my perfect sound.

You ar doing fantastic job teaching blues lead and slide. But however I do think it is about time you should but a rhythm course up for people like me. I dont play slide but I do play blues lead guitar and I am very good, But my rhythm (blued) guitar really sucks, please will you do a dvd course on the subject I for one will buy it. Its the only think that stops me from joining or forming a band. If you have a look on the net you will see that there is not a lot out there. Please Please John.

I agree completely. I now feel confident in lead guitar playing but struggle with Blues/jazz rhythm. My rhythm plaing is very basic and would really like to spice it up. I would love a DVD series that addressed these topics. Thanks!

I can’t tell you how much your Master Slide Guitar Course has helped me. The way that you pace your lessons and the down-to-Earth delivery is absolutely perfect. I can’t imagine anyone not being able to grow as a player with these lessons.
